I was born in Canton, Ohio and have fond memories of the big Italian family gatherings each Sunday at my grandparents home. To this day I remember watching with amazement as my grandfather ate a platter of pasta and meatballs prior to my grandmother serving the main course. The family gatherings were always filled with the men playing bocce and singing while my Uncle Tony played the accordion. When I received my acceptance to college, my grandfather, who only had a third grade education in Italy, wrote me a beautiful letter in Italian telling me how proud he felt. I would be the first in the family to graduate from college.

But it was my father who encouraged me to major in mathematics and become a teacher. Every evening he would sit with me at the kitchen table and help me with my math homework. He would quiz me on the math facts and did not give up until he was sure that I was ready for the next day. When I entered high school, he said the math at that level was beyond him and I was now on my own. With such a strong foundation and loving support, I excelled in math in high school. While my father was cheering me on, my mother said many novenas for my success. I went on to major in mathematics in college and eventually to receivie a masters degree in curriculum and assessment.
I always dreamed of being an elementary school teacher and often played school with my younger brother. I loved teaching my first class of third graders and especially enjoyed teaching mathematics, prealgebra, and algebra to seventh and eighth grade students. I am now a grandmother of five inquisitive grandsons, one curious granddaughter, and one grandson on the way. I enjoy writing educational resources for math that are full of simple to implement lesson plans for home or classroom use and engaging student activities. i have dedicated my books to my grandchildren in hopes they will enjoy learning mathematics as much as I love teaching mathematics.
